The Baruch Bearcats lost to SUNY-New Paltz in five sets in a non-conference match played on Thursday night in the ARC Arena.
The two teams split the first two sets to set up the exciting tie-breaker, but New Paltz (2-0) pulled away 15-11 to win the match.
Greg Waldvogel (West Hempstead, N.Y./West Hempstead) led the way for the Bearcats (3-2) with 21 kills and nine digs, while Steve Rouse (New York, N.Y./A.P. Randolph) had 11 kills.
William Miranda (Minais-Gerais, Brazil/Long Island City) had a solid evening with 16 digs and King Cheng (Great Neck, N.Y./Great Neck South) dished out 47 assists.
New Paltz was led by Pedro Medina (Brentwood, N.Y./Brentwood) with 27 digs.
The Beacats will continue their current homestand with a non-conference match this Sunday afternoon against Yeshiva. First serve in the ARC Arena is scheduled for Noon.
